Pets At Home Launches E-commerce Operation
Pets At Home has launched a new e-commerce operation that will allow them to develop their multi-channel retail strategy.
The solution was implemented by Snow Valley using their MUSE2 platform, which is based on .NET technology and includes Microsoft Commerce Server, BizTalk Server, and SQL Server.
At the frontend, the new Pets At Home online store offers a range of features to engage and assist the customer. A Nutrition Advisor allows customers to locate dog and cat food based on specific dietary needs, for example, food suitable for older cats with particular health issues. A product comparison service allows these products to be shown side by side for full consideration of the various features. Snow Valley’s product review service allows Pets At Home to take full advantage of the benefits of user generated content.
Snow Valley also integrated the website with Fredhopper, which is providing guided navigation to further enhance the customer experience.
The design of the online store was completed by Snow Valley’s Design & Usability consultancy, which used a persona-based design process to deliver a creative concept and information architecture suitable for the range of customers using the Pets At Home online service.
At the backend, Snow Valley integrated the e-commerce operation with Pets At Home’s supply chain technology from Manhattan Associates. This ensures maximum automation of information flow across the various channels.

The guided navigation, product comparison, and product review functionality are all about letting the customer find the products that are absolutely right for their pet. We now need to extend and develop the website so that it continues to engage and excite the customer.”
