We are on the lookout for a bright, talented student to join our Operations Team for a year-long paid Industrial Placement. The Operations Team offers world-class hosting and operational services aimed at optimizing the performance of our clients’ mission-critical e-commerce solutions.
During your year with Snow Valley you will gain invaluable experience throughout the business, developing skills in the latest Microsoft technologies and learning about e-commerce from the roots up. You will work in and complete projects for some or all of the following teams:
- Engineering
- Client Services
- Quality Assurance
- Development
This will give you a fully rounded perspective of the e-commerce industry, and give you the opportunity to join one of the UK’s most experienced e-commerce teams, work alongside a number of highly talented individuals, and grow your skills in many different ways.
Learning and Development
You will be assigned increasingly challenging projects during the course of your year, designed to stretch you and develop your skills further.
You will be supported by an experienced mentor who will guide you during this learning process, help you whenever necessary, and ensure that you are taking full advantage of the learning options open to you.
By the end of your year with us, you will have gained the following skills, technologies and knowledge:
- Networking skills, including L3 switches, firewalls and VPNs
- Windows skills, including 2003/2008, Windows XP and Vista
- Understanding of web hosting, specifically on Microsoft IIS
- Secure application hosting
- Microsoft Commerce Server
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience of development environments, virtual computing and source control

The Person
We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Under-Graduate with a demonstrable passion for technology, and a real thirst for knowledge. To succeed you will:
- Be studying for an Electrical Engineering / Information Technology (or similar) degree
- Have experience of Microsoft technologies
- Have a passion for technology
- Have good English language skills, both spoken and written
- Have a strong academic record and be on track for a 2:1 degree or higher
- Be a positive team player
- Have a methodical approach to work and good attention to detail
- Have lots of enthusiasm, and the willingness and desire to learn
