Job opportunity e-commerce Web Developer

As a Web Developer you will join one of the UK’s most experienced e-commerce teams, developing and supporting solutions for some of the UK’s biggest retailers including Toys 'R' Us, Liverpool Football Club, LK Bennett and Levi’s Europe. You will be responsible for building and enhancing systems that feature cutting-edge design, with complex transactions and extensive integration. You will also work on developing new web-based site management tools and applications.
During your first year with Snow Valley you will gain invaluable experience in our different teams, developing skills in the latest Microsoft technologies and learning about e-commerce from the roots up. Your secondments will include time spent in some or all of the following teams:
- Core application Development
- Integration Development
- Tools Development
- Design and User Interface Development
- Quality Assurance
- Engineering
- Client Services
- On-line Marketing
These secondments will give you a fully rounded perspective of the e-commerce industry, give you the opportunity to work alongside a number of highly talented individuals, and grow your skills in many different ways.
Learning and Development
You will be assigned increasingly challenging projects and development work during the course of your year, designed to stretch you and develop your skills further.
You will be supported by an experienced mentor who will guide you during this learning process, help you whenever necessary, and ensure that you are taking full advantage of the learning options open to you.
We will support you on your path to becoming MCTS certified, and you will attend training courses in Microsoft technologies, including but not limited to ASP.Net, and be given study time to prepare for your exams.
By the end of your first year, you will be proficient in the following skills and technologies:
- ASP.net
- C#
- SQL Databases
- e-commerce Systems
- Content Management Systems
Additionally you will have gained exposure to other technologies such as BizTalk, Commerce Server, and SharePoint.
Your Future Career
When you have successfully completed your first year at Snow Valley and undergone your training and development programme, you will be promoted to the position of Developer. At that time you will gain more responsibility and independence, and you will receive a substantial pay increase. You will now be on a structured Developer career path, with the likelihood of growing towards senior development roles.
The Person
We are looking for enthusiastic and talented Graduates with a demonstrable interest in e-commerce, and a true thirst for knowledge. To succeed you will:
Be studying for an Information Technology/Computer Science (or similar) degree- Have experience of Microsoft technologies
- Have a demonstrable passion for web development and E-commerce
- Have good English language skills, both spoken and written
- Have a strong academic record and be on track for a 2:1 degree or higher
- Be a positive team player
- Have lots of enthusiasm, and the willingness and desire to learn
